BIG BACKUP

ISAIAH 43:1-2 (NLT)

But now, O Israel, the Lord who created you says, “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you.  I have called you by name and you are mine.  When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you.  When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.”

If we don’t know anything else, we know fear. Because we’re human fear, worry, and anxiety are  often our first responses to difficult and scary situations.  The more we’ve given into it, the easier it’s become to fall back on it.

We’ve given into fear for too long.  Our fear is big and our God is small.  We trust a concept of God, but we still struggle to trust who He really is.  We pray and limited what we believe God will do.  Going to Him and depending on Him should be our first response and our big backup.  He has everything we lack.

God is:

  • Our Father: He is all-sufficient and has everything we need.
  • El-Shaddai: He is all-sufficient and has everything we need.
  • Faithful: He does not make a promise that He doesn’t keep.
  • Elohim: He is and has the strength we need to live as we should.
  • Omnipresent: He is everywhere.  There is no situation that we are in that He is not in with us.
  • Sovereign: He sees and knows everything.  He’s aware of our fears, knows our trials, and has our solutions.

When we know who He is, we can live like we have backup- Big Backup.  Our situations won’t get the best of us when we trust the One who has the best for us.  We can choose to see our issues from His perspective and decide to believe that He will provide what we need, when and how we need it.

Ultimately, it’s going to be fine because God said so.  We may still feel fear as we deal with our issues, but we don’t have to allow that fear to rule the way we live.  We can move forward with the confidence that God’s got us.

So, today let’s step out on faith and trust God.  He hears us, knows our fears, has our remedy, provides our strength, developed the plan, and is with us every step of the way.

PRAYER

Lord, Thank you for being present and active, forward thinking and wise.  You know everything we’re afraid of and have every remedy we need.  We’re ready to deal with what scares us by believing your promises and moving forward despite the way we may feel.  Give us the strength to keep putting one foot in front of the other as we sense your direction for our lives.

In Jesus’ Name,
Amen

Live well,
Michele
