FIRST THINGS FIRST

Genesis 1:1 (NLT)

In the beginning God created…

Matthew 6:33 (Amp)

But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right– the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.

DEVOTIONAL

God provides what we need before we are ever aware of our needs.  From the very beginning, He was thinking about us and considered what was best for us.  Like any anticipating Father, He had an orderly plan that would impact our forever.

The creation story is filled with loving details orchestrated by the Master Craftsman to sustain and enhance life.  When He said, “Let there be light”, He could see what was there and what was yet to be realized simultaneously.

He is a first-things-first kind of God who knows all of the answers to all of the questions, but lovingly reveals only what we need to know (and shields us from more than we can imagine).  As we make a decision to grow spiritually, to pursue wholeness and holiness, to relinquish our right to be right, and embrace His right to make changes and determine our direction, He will meet every need we have, in providential order, and without error.

We often make simple tasks difficult, but the simplicity of His plan is His open invitation to focus on the priority.   Our circumstances are real, but so is our God.  Our circumstances change, but God’s character and love for us never changes.  To live well, we must simply trust God.  There’s no way around it.

When we put more time into our growing intimacy with God, He’s wooed into responding to both our expressed and unrealized needs.  Our concerns have never surprised Him.  He waits for us to recognize our need for Him and to make pursuing Him our primary concern.

PRAYER

Lord, Thank you for anticipating all of our needs.  Teach us how to focus on our relationship with You and trust that You will address every concern.

In Jesus’ Name,
Amen

Live well,
Michele
