Something's Got to Go!
Hebrews 12:1
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily hinders our progress. And let us run with endurance the race that God has set before us.
DEVOTIONAL
We’ve become so familiar with the words, “I’m tired”. We have to become our own best friends and do something about it. Something’s got to go or at least change. Why? Because when the mind and body are drained (particularly for long periods of time) it’s difficult to live well.
When we sense the drain and feel worn out, it’s likely a time for rest, self-reflection and release. We may be willfully holding on to attitudes, thoughts, actions and possessions that weigh us down. Our preoccupations will render us inflexible and fatigued from the ongoing effort to maintain what we should abandon.
We were created to move forward and adjust to our Creator’s wishes. Our minds should be focused on what builds us up, expands our horizons, and encourages others. Life is too short to spend time complaining, entertaining negative thoughts, or dragging our bodies from one activity to another. We have to be willing to do what’s needed to be most useful.
The scriptures (Hebrews 11:32-35) recount the lives of imperfect people who accomplished extraordinary things because they were able to move forward in faith given God’s direction. Discouragement and fatigue may threaten our resolve, but we can choose to be honest with ourselves, make the necessary changes, and then draw on God’s strength to continue the course at a steady pace.
Think About It
As you consider what God really wants for you, reflect on and answer the following questions (feel free to share and encourage others, if you like):
- What do you dream about doing?
- What’s slowing you down and hindering your progress?
- What changes can you make to be kinder to yourself?
PRAYER
Lord, We’re grateful for a moment to consider how we’re living. Teach us what a balanced life really looks like. Help us to plan our time and activities in a way that doesn’t wear us out or wear us down. And, we will give You the honor and praise for the lessons You teach us.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
Live well,
Michele

I’m so glad, Cheryl.
Hmmm…“Think about it,” (chew on it for a moment or two, ponder it in our hearts ♥️), I like that addition!
Thanks for the feedback, Brenda.
Hello, you used to write fantastic, but the last several posts have been kinda boring… I miss your great writings. Past few posts are just a bit out of track! come on!
You are my breathing in, I possess few blogs and often run out from to brand.
What’s up, all the time i used to check web site posts here early in the
dawn, since i love to learn more and more.
I like what you guys are up also. Such smart work and reporting! Carry on the excellent works guys I’ve incorporated you guys to my blogroll. I think it will improve the value of my website :).
My developer is trying to persuade me to move to .net from
PHP. I have always disliked the idea because of the costs.
But he’s tryiong none the less. I’ve been using Movable-type on several websites for about a year and am nervous about
switching to another platform. I have heard good things about blogengine.net.
Is there a way I can import all my wordpress content into it?
Any kind of help would be really appreciated!
