Psalm 27: 13 (NLT)
Yet I am confident that I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living.
Let’s adore God. How do we do that? Well, start by considering how he’s shown up for us and then recognize ways in which he’s demonstrated his character. Why? Because we need to be more aware of who he is and he wants to hear us talk about it.
We get to know God on a deeper, more intimate level when we pay attention to the things he does. We gain information about the essence of who he is when we use our words to talk about His handiwork. As we specifically describe the way he works in our lives, we build the capacity to share his goodness with others.
Have you cooked or purchased a meal lately? Or did someone bring you a meal? That’s God being a Provider. Was someone released from the hospital? He’s been a Healer. Has there been exposure to corona-virus-positive people but you haven’t developed symptoms yourself? He’s demonstrated that he’s a Protector. Have you cried out and asked God to help you deal with your very real circumstances? Have you or someone you know faced separation from or the death of a loved one? That’s when Our Father is a very present help in the time of need (Psalm 46:1).
God demonstrates a special variety of character that can’t be found anywhere else. He’s all things true and honest and hopeful. Most importantly, he’s everything we personally need. He’s trustworthy and consistent, focused and deliberate. He’s the same God who responded to our prayers two months ago and will answer even our whispered prayers today.
The bible gives us examples of ways to tell God what we notice like,
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases,…” (Psalm 103:2-3ESV).
“I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears” (Psalm 34:4 KJV).
“Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread” (Psalm 37:25 NLT).
“For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go” (Psalm 91:11 NLT).
“For his unfailing love for us is powerful; the LORD’s faithfulness endures forever. Praise the LORD!” (Psalm 117:2 NLT).
And, from our expressions of appreciation about who He is and how he does what he does, he has instilled blessing upon blessing. We can handle our situations a bit better when we tell him how good he’s been. Our thoughts clear up and our emotions stabilize as we shift our view off of our personal situations (if only for a moment) and tell him about everything we notice about him and his actions in our lives.
Today’s the day to tell God and someone else about his goodness. Don’t keep it to yourself. Text, call, email, or video chat with someone and share the good news. It’s the least you can do as you think of all He’s done for you. Take a look around, see what the Lord has done and say something!
PrayerLord,
You’ve been good. Our circumstances haven’t been all that we’ve wanted, but we recognize you as the God who never fails and never makes a mistake. Thank you for your hand of mercy and for meeting our needs “according to your riches in glory”. We’re grateful today and want you to know it.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
Live well,
Michele
