Walk Good!

This week, let’s explore what it means to walk good and live well.  It’s a key ingredient to living your best life.

James 3:13 (NLT)

If you are wise and understand God’s ways, live a life of steady goodness so that only good deeds will pour forth.  And if you don’t brag about the good you do, then you will be truly wise!

DEVOTIONAL

Actions do speak louder than words.  When you choose to live a pure, focused, joy-filled life, there’s no need to bend over backwards to prove that you live well.  The proof is in the living.

Genuine, wise living, is practical.  It shows up in the way you speak to family members, the decisions you make on the job, and what’s said in personal telephone conversations and social media posts.  What we decide to do and say matters and  moves us toward, or away from, truly living well.

There’s a Jamaican saying that one might hear when leaving someone’s presence or ending a conversation.  Walk Good!  Usually said between men, but so appropriate to this week’s focus verse.  In other words, do your best to live well, with clear vision, and impact.  To the Christian, it’s a directive to be purposeful and aware, humbly demonstrating a steady consciousness that focuses on enjoying the life you’ve been given while anchoring your decisions with Godly intent.

The good life is not about what you own or the influence you can flaunt.  It’s a life infused with kindness and peacekeeping, gently impacting, lovingly encouraging, gracefully forgiving, quietly listening, and purposefully growing.  When you choose to live wisely, your life will speak for you.

Prayer

Lord, Teach us how to live a good life today, one that honors You and encourages others to do the same.

In Jesus’ Name,
Amen

Live well,
Michele
