For Our Benefit

Ephesians 1:19a (NLT)

I pray that you will begin to understand the incredible greatness of his power for us who believe him.

DEVOTIONAL

God uses His power for our benefit.  It is specifically directed so that we can live as He’s called us to live.  It is the very same power that God used to raise Christ from the dead (v.20).  That’s incomprehensible, but it’s no less true.

Our God, who has the capacity to regulate and influence all actions and events chooses to aim His inexplicable power in our direction.  This should cause us to pause.  Then, we should confess that we too often entertain a limited mindset about who God is and what He is able to do.

God is not small, limited or inconsequential.  He is unchangeable (James 1:17), loving (John 3:16), a provider (Matthew 6:26), perfect (Psalm 18:30), just (Psalm 50:6), and strong (2 Samuel 22:32-34).  He can change our circumstances and resolve our issue at any moment.

With a God like that, we can:

*Establish goals that line up with His will for us

*Refuse to hide our gifts and talents

*Encourage others around us to do the same

When we begin to understand who God is, and the power He wields, we will refuse to live wilted lives or entertain ideals and emotions that bind us in states of motionlessness.  We have the very power of God mobilized for our benefit. He brings the power, hope, and resolution.

Let’s begin to understand how great God really is and live as though we know Him.

Prayer

Lord, Thank you for being God.  Help us to understand more about who You are so that we can trust the way You work in our lives.  Teach us how to do more than we thought was possible.

In Jesus’ Name,
Amen

Live well,
Michele
