Our Super Power

1 Corinthians 2: 15-16 (NLT)

We who have the Spirit understand these things, but others can't understand us at all. How could they? For, "Who can know what the Lord is thinking? Who can give him counsel?" But we can understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.

DEVOTIONAL

Christians think differently.  We have this gift of living among all of God’s creation, and experiencing the highs and lows of life, yet understanding that what we see and hear is not the whole story.  That’s because we have God-given super powers.

Our gift is Godly insight.  The Holy Spirit guides us and shares secrets with us (Psalm 25:14).  We actually observe and know things that others can’t appreciate.  We have the inside track on creation and the purposes of life.  Our power is not only in the knowing but in the ability to access what seems impossible.  God tells us everything we need to know.

The Creator of the Universe has given us the unique ability to tap into His resources at a moment’s notice.  Seriously-we pray and get answers.  We don’t always like the responses we get (and sometimes we think the timing is slow) but we can’t deny that we have open access to the Heavenly Throne.  We actually have super powers!  And yet, we decide to only scratch the surface of our reach.  We pray- sometimes, praise even less and say thank you’s we know are inadequate.  It’s like going to the gas station with an empty tank and pocket full of money and deciding to purchase only a quarter of what’s needed to take our long-distance trip.  It makes no sense.

What does make sense is to use the powers we’ve been given.  Why not ask the Person who has all the answers (Psalm 147:5)?  Can our lives really move forward well if we always want to be in control (Job 12:10)? Why not give to others with the assurance that our needs are covered (Philippians 4:19)?  What’s the deal with not using our God-given gifts while we still have time (John 9:4)?  Shouldn’t we instill quality into our everyday existence (1 Corinthians 10:31)?  What’s better than knowing that we’re connected enough to act (John 1:12)?

Time is of the essence and our days are not getting any easier.  We can live well by going deep and reaching for more.  We live our best life when we use our super powers to live like Christ.

Prayer

Lord, Thank you for blessing us with Godly insight.  We don’t have to flounder about trying to figure out what to do.  We can use our super powers of prayer, praise, and thanksgiving to make a difference in our part of this world.

In Jesus’ Name,
Amen

Live well,
Michele
