A Simple Truth
God Loves Us
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His love is eternal. Give thanks to the God of gods. His love is eternal. Psalm 136:1 (HCS)
There are few things in life that are simple, but there is a simple truth. God loves us. Wait. Don’t brush that off and be quick to say, “Yeah, I know that”. Instead, take a moment to pay attention to the message in the words. God- loves-us. Now, take time to personalize it. God-loves-me. There is neither ‘but’ nor ‘when’. He very simply, without complication, excuse or afterthought, love us. In fact, before we were born He enjoyed the very thought of us (Psalm 139:16).
We are loved. The proof is everywhere. It may be more challenging to sense God’s love these days because we have so many distractions. Nonetheless, He has not taken His eye off of us or our circumstances. He walks with us through life stages, protects us from ourselves and others, opens doors, blocks opportunities, and tells us to wait all out of the abundance of His love.
God loves us. His ear is open and attentive. He listens to us with a tenderness that only a Father can possess. He hears what we don’t say- what we’re afraid to utter- what we’re unable to intelligibly express. He hears it all as He’s loving enough to be ahead of our thoughts and concerns.
It’s easy to become drunk on God’s blessings and believe that He loves us based on what He does for us. After all, He did what seemed unthinkable by sacrificing His own Son for our eternal benefit (John 3:16). But the truth is that our Dear Father loves us so well because love is the essence of who He is. He is the perfect example of everything we should want to be. He loves us when we’re unlovable, extends grace when we least deserve it, and shows mercy that only He can explain.
We have so much to be thankful for. God loves us! That really is our life and hope.
If God keeps it simple, so can we. We can simply:
*Make time for Him every day
*Be careful to say things that encourage and build
*Say, “Thank you” to Him and to others
We can embrace the simple truth. God loves us. End of story.
Prayer
Lord, Thank you for being Our Loving Father. You are great, gracious and kind. Every day is an opportunity to thank you for who You are , what we notice You doing and for every act that happens unawares. We are blessed. Teach us how to live like we’re loved.

Reminds me of one of the very first songs I learned as a preachooler: “Jesus ❤️ loved me this I know, for the Bible tells me so!” We must continue to teach this to our children, so, they, too, know early on.
He gives us such confidence.
