God Knows

Genesis 27:13 (CSB)

His mother said to him, Your curse be on me, my son.  Just obey me and go get them for me.

DEVOTIONAL

Mothering is not a perfect experience.  We often do the best we can while making many mistakes.  But God knows that and loves us through it.  And, if God allows, we get to a stage in life when we appreciate the humanity of our own mothers.

Rebekah took an incredible risk to deceive her husband out of fear for her child.  God told her what would happen in the lives of her children before she’d even given birth (Genesis 25:23).  This act of deception was her way of helping God do His job.  But God already knew what she would do and made her poor influence and actions work in His plan.

Today, we can bathe ourselves in prayer and trust Him to guide us, respond to our fears and right our wrongs.  We can trust that He knows what He’s doing.

PRAYER

Dear Lord,

You have been present from the beginning of time and are aware of everything we do and face.  Whether through birth, adoption, foster care, guardianship, or support, You have blessed us to bless someone else.  Thank you for the children You’ve given and the children You’ve taken.  Thank you for the love and care You’ve allowed us to give and share.  Our lives have been enriched because Your plan included our participation.

We bring every concern to You now because You know us better than we know ourselves.  We’re prone to make mistakes out of love, fear and concern.  When our children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, Godchildren, cousins, and friend’s children bless You, we’re asking you to open up the caverns of Heaven and bless them (2 Corinthians 9:8).  When they make poor choices, and decide to embrace wrong behaviors, we’re asking you to make Your presence obvious to them, show them their wrong, and draw them to You.

We’re so grateful that we serve a God who knows our deepest concerns.  Talk to us about our faith and our fears and teach us how to pray for ourselves and those we influence.

Thank You for the gift of Your grace.  It really is enough! (2 Corinthians 12:9).

In Jesus’ Name,
Amen

Happy Mother’s Day!
Michele

  1. Thank you Lord for the gift of mothering. I count it a blessing I can be an example for you. Teach me to love unconditionally and pray for our young people when they make decisions that doesn’t honor you. I pray for their minds, body and soul that they will realize you are their Savior. Help them to love as you are the greatest example. I pray these things in Jesus name.

  2. This message was timely because I’ve made many mistakes and it’s humbling to know how God Always Has Our Backs”!

  3. Such a beautiful message of the faithfulness of God and His all-knowing power. There’s nothing we ought to try and hide from Him because He already knows – and He just wants us to stay in relationship with Him.
Michele, happy Mother’s Day to you!
