Soon Come!

Psalm 27:14 (KJV)

Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he will strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

Psalm 27:14 (CSB)

Wait on the Lord; be strong, and let your heart be courageous.  Wait for the Lord.

DEVOTIONAL

Jamaican people say, “Soon come!”  It’s used to communicate- ‘be patient’, ‘wait a little longer’, ‘not long’, ‘in just a little while’.  There’s no specific time to ‘soon come’, it’s just an assurance that your time will come.

There are lots of things we’d like to do but they have to wait.  Life doesn’t always make room for what we want at the exact moment we’re in.  Some matters sit for a more appropriate time.  That’s what makes waiting hard work.  When you want something to happen, but there’s no way it can happen now, it’s time to remember that God’s timing rules.

‘Soon come’ builds patience and endurance, teaches us how to rely on God, and shows us how to maintain our hope.  It’s the time to recognize that other things are happening as we wait.  Preparations are being made, obstacles are being destroyed, and the scene is being set.

So, as we ask, “Lord, when will…?, the answer might be “Soon come!”  Trust that if He has you waiting, it’s with good purpose.  Rest assured, He’ll respond…soon.

Prayer

Lord, It can certainly be frustrating to wait for what we want. Teach us how to wait in faithful expectation instead of waiting and worrying or waiting in fear.  We want to rely on You and put all of our hopes in Your hands, today.

In Jesus’ Name,
Amen

Live well,
Michele

  1. What an appropriate message on this morning. It was a challenging night/morning and to read this message first was a balm for my soul. Thank you! “Soon Come” will be my anthem on this day Regardless of what happens.

  2. Thank you for this message this morning. My 24 year old daughter is awaiting a second kidney transplant and all necessary testing of her exchange donor have been performed. However, it’s a very lengthy process for a kidney transplant involving an exchange. It’s very difficult to watch my daughter go through dialysis, have a poor appetite, and not be able to enjoy the things that others her age can. Your message reminded me that God is preparing everything for her favor, so that this kidney transplant will be long lasting.

  3. “Soon Come”….what a powerful Word and reminder today! Thank you Chele. It is so hard to wait. For me, worry often gets the best of me and I constantly must remind myself that God sees and He knows. It is all in His hands and His timing. I can trust in Him. What encouragement for today.
