Say, "Amen!"

Psalm 41:13 (NLT)

Bless the Lord, the God of Israel, who lives forever from eternal ages past.  Amen and amen.

1 Peter 5:11 (NLT)

All power is his forever and ever. Amen.

DEVOTIONAL

Amen is a proclamation of agreement.  It says that we recognize who God is and we’re aligned with what He decides to do.  When we say “amen”, we admit that He’s Sovereign.  We demonstrate a knowing that He’s in charge and able to bring about a good end to our crooked circumstances.  Amen professes that the God who created the heavens and the earth is able, has a good plan for us (Jeremiah 29:11), and will complete every good thing He has started (Philippians 1:6).  We can trust Him.

Amen is affirmative.  As a matter of fact, Amen is God (Revelations 3:14).  He is the Witness to His own works.  When we utter the word, we tell Him that we know that He gets to the core of our matter.   It declares, certainly, yes, Lord, you’re free to move and do whatever you decide to do.  Truly, You know best and that’s exactly the way that need should be met.  Amen is our active head nod to the Father.  It is a word that sees everything, excludes nothing, and leaves every Divine possibility open to His bidding.

Sometimes our feelings need time to catch up with our realities.  An in-the-meantime amen anticipates His response when spoken with the assurance that God is faithful and responsive because it is an endorsement of praise and prayer.

So, let’s get our day going with a few heart stirring amens.

  • We are loved and not alone- “Amen!”
  • Our difficulties have purpose- “Amen!”
  • It’s always a good time to trust Him- “Amen!”
  • He is a kind and gracious God- “Amen!”

Let the Church say, “Amen!”

PRAYER

Lord, We trust You today to do whatever is in our best interest, and we will continue to give You honor and praise for the process and the outcome.  Amen!

Live well,
Michele
