TREASURE KEEPER

Colossians 2:2b-3 (NLT)

I want them to have full confidence because they have complete understanding of God’s secret plan, which is Christ himself.  In him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

DEVOTIONAL

Men (and women) have for centuries searched for hidden treasures.  They have roamed in the sandy desert, endured extreme temperatures, gone without water for long periods of time,  and have risked their lives for the opportunity to “strike gold” or find that gem or field of oil.

The same is true today.  We search for treasures in all the wrong places, using inadequate tools.  We trust in and look to people to provide our solutions and make us feel whole and significant, then end up empty-handed, depressed and anxious because we’ve overlooked what God has plainly provided.

Christ is our treasure-keeper, our map, the Source, and the answer to our greatest needs.  We can’t begin to live well until we acknowledge Christ as our starting point.  We are incapable of clearly understanding our life circumstances outside of His perspective and we’re unable to accurately see what’s before our eyes without the illumination of His Word.  Without Him, we follow a path of haphazard blindness void of Godly guidance or protection or hope.

When we start with Christ, we’re moving in the right direction.  He provides instructions, changes circumstances and appetites, blocks attacks, and opens doors.  He has the foresight to surround us with the right people and resources at the right time.  We’re able to avoid numerous pitfalls with His guiding hand and the outcome is an ample supply of encouragement, safety, and wisdom.

Christ is the Gift that keeps on giving.

PRAYER

Lord, Thank you for being our Gift and Gift-giver.  Teach us to rely on you for everything we need.

In Jesus’ Name,
Amen

Live well,
Michele
