Learning to Do What Needs to Be Done

Proverbs 16:3 (NLT)

Commit your work to the Lord, and then your plans will succeed.

DEVOTIONAL

God wants us to be flexible- available to do whatever needs to be done at any given time.  But that also means that we volunteer to be stretched, corrected, disappointed, encouraged, and strengthened.

We make plans but He actually has the plan.  We should pray often, but as we give God what we’re praying and hoping for, we must also recognize that His response may be different from anything we could have imagined.

Because God knows what our outcome looks like, His plan is to expand the way we live now in preparation for what’s to come.  There is more to learn about what we’re asking for, what’s involved in the process of getting it, what the outcome looks like, who will be impacted, and the ways in which we ourselves will change.

Each new season in life brings with it opportunities to make adjustments, shift in another direction, advance a cause or project, correct a poor decision, and develop into better,  more productive versions of ourselves.  Whatever we consider doing, when we start with prayer, announcing our intention to surrender to our Loving Father and seeking His direction, we set ourselves up to succeed.  He will craft our course and take responsibility for the outcome.

Whatever we need, God will supply and whatever we face, He knows what to do and how to direct.  When we put His desires ahead of our hopes and actions, we voluntarily assume a posture that reveals our willingness to live more expansively than we do now.  We will certainly be blessed as we follow Him to do whatever He has in mind.

Prayer

Lord, Thank you for giving us the gifts of time and opportunity.  Help us to make the best of the days we’ve been given by first committing all of our plans to you, seeking your guidance, and following your direction.  In this season of life, we want to do whatever you want us to do and to be better versions of who we already are.

In Jesus’ Name,
Amen

Live well,
Michele
