Surrendering To God?
We’ve got lots of worries, insecurities and stress. Let’s find out what’s so important about surrendering to God.
1 Peter 5:6-7 (NLT)
So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and in his good time he will honor you. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about what happens to you.
DEVOTIONAL
Humility is a place of safety. We don’t like it, it’s uncomfortable, and we fight it, but it’s what’s best for us. It sounds strange, but when we’re humble we find peace (Ephesians 4:1).
When we make a decision to let go of what we hold onto, we tell God that what’s important to Him is important to us. And, when we allow Him to deal with everything that burdens us- our health, our home, our work, our finances, our children, and our future- we give Him the place of honor in our hearts.
Volunteering to be vulnerable is never easy but God promises to take good care of us (Psalm 55:22a). Now is the time to let go of worry, fear, unforgiveness, angst, and greed. Instead of complaining or worrying, surrender. When we can’t figure out what to do, surrender. When we’re concerned about what will happen next, surrender. Just like a thief who’s been caught holding on to what doesn’t belong to her, we must raise our hands as an act of submission and give up everything to the only One who should have it. God has the perfect resolution for everything we deal with and will leave us in awe. So, surrender.
PRAYER
Dear Lord,
We’ve planned and worried. We’ve been stubborn and full of ourselves. Teach us, today, how to give you everything we hold on to and to be at peace with not being in control.
